The Clock Is Ticking — Christmas Custom Packaging Orders Must Start Now

If you're selling products this Christmas — whether it's candles, chocolates, tea blends, skincare, jewellery, or corporate gifts — your packaging needs to be ordered now. Not in October. Not in November. Now.

Custom and bespoke packaging has a production lead time. The art of getting it right — the right size, the right finish, the right print — takes time to manufacture properly. Every year, businesses leave it too late and are forced to choose between plain, generic packaging or missing Christmas altogether.

At LD Packaging Mall, we've spent over 30 years helping UK brands get their packaging right, on time. We're a Birmingham-based supplier and manufacturer of luxury custom boxes and tins, and we support small quantity orders — so you don't need to be a big retailer to get beautiful, bespoke Christmas packaging.

Here's everything you need to know.

Why Custom Packaging Matters More at Christmas

Christmas is the most competitive retail season of the year. Shelves — physical and digital — are packed with products all fighting for attention. In that environment, packaging isn't decoration. It's your first salesperson.

Research consistently shows that consumers make purchasing decisions at the point of presentation. A product in luxury, branded packaging feels more valuable. It commands a higher price. It gets chosen over the plain alternative sitting next to it. And at Christmas, when gifting is the motivation behind so many purchases, the packaging often matters as much as what's inside.

A bespoke tin with your logo, in a size that fits your product perfectly, finished in premium foil print — that's not an indulgence. That's a smart commercial investment.

Custom Sizes: Built Around Your Product, Not the Other Way Around

One of the most common problems brands face is buying packaging that doesn't quite fit. Too deep, too wide, too flimsy — and the product rattles around inside, or the lid won't close cleanly.

At LD Packaging Mall, we offer packaging in a comprehensive range of sizes, and for truly bespoke orders, we can manufacture to your exact specifications.

For tins, our standard range includes multiple heights and diameters across round, rectangular, square, and specialty shapes — from small lip balm tins to large hamper-style presentation tins.

For gift boxes, our range spans from compact jewellery-sized rigid boxes right up to large A4 folding magnetic hamper boxes. Popular formats include A5, A4, and wine-bottle configurations in our magnetic folding range, plus nested sets in our rigid stacking and glitter box collections.

If your product needs something that doesn't match a standard size — a particular tin dimension for a new product, or a box height tailored to a specific item — our bespoke manufacturing service exists precisely for that. Tell us what you need and we'll build it.

Premium Printing Options: Your Brand, Done Beautifully

Not all printing is equal. The finish on your packaging sends a signal about your brand — and we offer a range of techniques to make sure that signal is exactly the one you intend.

Foil Printing is one of the most striking and premium finishes available. Gold foil, silver foil, rose gold, and holographic foil options are all available, catching the light and adding a tactile, luxury quality that standard ink simply can't match. Perfect for logos, brand names, and decorative details on both tins and boxes. Particularly popular for Christmas packaging, where that shimmer and warmth is exactly on-brand.

Screen Printing is a highly durable and vibrant printing method applied directly to the surface of tins. It produces bold, consistent colour reproduction and a professional finish that holds up over time — ideal for branded tins that will be reused and kept by customers.

Full-Colour (CMYK) Printing allows for photographic-quality artwork, gradients, and complex designs. If your branding involves detailed illustration, photography, or a full wraparound design, digital printing gives you maximum creative freedom with accurate colour matching.

UV Spot Printing adds a layer of high-gloss lacquer to selected areas of a print, creating contrast between matt and shine that gives a premium, contemporary look. It's a finishing detail that elevates standard printed packaging to something truly high-end.

Vinyl Sticker Application is a cost-effective branding method for smaller runs, offering full colour and custom shapes. Ideal if you need branded packaging quickly and have a more modest budget.

Not sure which method is right for your artwork and product? Our team will advise you. Send us your logo, your brand guidelines, and a description of what you're trying to achieve — we'll recommend the best approach.

Luxury Finishes: The Details That Make the Difference

Beyond print, there's a world of finishing options that transform good packaging into unforgettable packaging. At LD Packaging Mall, we take finish seriously — because we know it's the detail your customers will notice and remember.

Matt Lamination gives boxes a smooth, sophisticated surface with a soft-touch quality that feels expensive. It subdues sheen for a contemporary, understated luxury look — popular with beauty, wellness, and premium food brands.

Gloss Lamination produces a high-shine surface that makes colours pop and gives packaging a bright, vivid quality. Great for bold, colourful branding and products aimed at younger demographics or premium retail environments.

Glitter and Sparkle Finishes are a seasonal favourite and one of our most popular product categories. Our glitter rigid boxes are available in a wide colour palette — black, white, rose gold, teal, green, and more — and are ready from stock with no branding, or can be customised with your logo. Nothing looks more festive under a Christmas tree.

Embossing and Debossing add a tactile, raised or recessed dimension to your logo or pattern — a hallmark of the very highest-end packaging. When your customer runs their finger across an embossed logo on a tin lid, that sensation communicates quality without a single word.

Ribbon, Bow, and Magnetic Closure Details — Our folding gift boxes are available with changeable ribbon in multiple colours, and our rigid boxes come with premium magnetic closures or attached bow details. These finishing touches transform a box into a gift in itself.

Small Quantity Orders — Because Most Businesses Aren't Amazon

Here's the reality for most UK small businesses: you don't need 10,000 units. You might need 100, or 500, or 1,000. And you shouldn't have to pay inflated prices or get locked out of the custom market just because of that.

LD Packaging Mall was built with exactly that customer in mind. We offer:

No minimum order on all off-the-shelf stock — our plain and printed tins, luxury gift boxes, glitter boxes, hamper boxes, and rigid boxes can all be ordered in any quantity. One piece or one thousand, the process is the same.

Low MOQ on custom and bespoke orders — for branded and made-to-order packaging, we support genuinely small production runs. This makes us a practical partner for start-ups, artisan producers, small retailers, event businesses, and anyone else who needs quality without volume.

This approach means businesses across the UK come to us for:

  • Artisan food and drink brands launching seasonal Christmas product lines in custom tins
  • Independent candle makers needing branded tins and boxes for Christmas markets and online sales
  • Small cosmetics and skincare brands wanting luxury rigid boxes for gift sets
  • Wedding and events businesses sourcing bespoke favour tins or hamper boxes for winter celebrations
  • Corporate clients commissioning branded gift hampers for staff, clients, and stakeholders
  • E-commerce brands preparing Christmas packaging for their seasonal product launch
  • PR agencies and marketing teams building influencer gifting boxes and press kits

The Christmas Production Timeline: Why You Need to Act Now

This is important, and we want to be completely transparent with you about it.

Custom and bespoke packaging production takes time. The earlier you order, the more options are available to you — in terms of size, finish, and print technique. The later you leave it, the more those options narrow.

Here's a rough guide to how timing works for Christmas orders:

Order now (May–July): Full access to all bespoke and custom manufacturing options. Time for sampling, revisions, and refinement before production. Ideal for fully made-to-order items like custom-shaped tins or bespoke rigid boxes.

Order August–September: Still a comfortable window for most custom branding on stock items, and for lower-complexity bespoke manufacturing. Recommended deadline for anything requiring custom tin manufacture.

Order October: Feasible for branding and printing on  stock items — foil, screen, digital print on tins and boxes from our existing range. Tight but manageable for most standard services.

November onwards: We will always do our best, but options become limited and lead times are under pressure from seasonal demand. Plain stock items remain available for immediate dispatch, but bespoke production becomes very difficult to guarantee before Christmas.

The message is simple: the best Christmas packaging starts in the summer. If you're reading this now, you're in the right window to get it right.

Trusted by Leading UK Brands — and Independent Businesses Just Like Yours

LD Packaging Mall has supplied packaging to some of the most recognisable names in UK business and organisations — including the NHS, McLaren, Selfridges, and Hamleys. We're proud of those relationships.

But we're equally proud of the independent candle maker who ordered 150 branded tins for her first Christmas market and sold out. The artisan biscuit company that went from plain kraft bags to a custom printed Christmas tin and tripled their gift sales. The small cosmetics brand that launched their first luxury gift box set and used the photography for their entire seasonal campaign.

Great packaging changes outcomes. And you don't have to be a household name to access it.

We're rated Excellent on Trustpilot by our customers, and we offer a price match guarantee — so you know you're getting fair value, every time.

Eco-Friendly Christmas Packaging

We know sustainability matters to your customers, especially at Christmas when single-use packaging waste is a growing concern. Our tins and boxes are designed to be reused and recycled. Metal tins in particular have an exceptional longevity — customers keep them, refill them, and repurpose them, which means your brand stays visible long after the gift is opened.

We offer eco-friendly gift box options including natural kraft finishes and FSC-certified materials. If sustainability is part of your brand's Christmas story, we can help you tell it through your packaging.
